Solid Filling Tanks

Where redundant underground tanks need to be made safe, but it is not practicable or cost effective to remove them, we can solid fill them using approved materials.

Our Filling Methods

Our preferred method of solid filling tanks is with slurry or foaming concrete, as these are cost effective ways of completely filling the interior evenly without air pockets that can contain explosive vapour, thus making the tank safe to leave in the ground and/or remove at a later date.

Solid Filling Tanks

We can also use specific types of solid foam if the customer requires.

Existing surface covers can either be replaced or the manhole chambers permanently made good to ground level

What is solid filling of tanks, and when is it necessary?

What are the preferred methods of solid filling tanks used by DP Tanks?

DP Tanks utilises two preferred methods for solid filling tanks: slurry or foaming concrete. These methods are cost-effective and ensure the interior of the tank is evenly filled without air pockets that could contain explosive vapours, making the tank safe for future use or removal. Additionally, DP Tanks can use specific types of solid foam if requested by the customer. The company prioritises safety and efficiency in its solid filling processes.

What happens to existing surface covers and manhole chambers during the solid filling process?

During the solid filling process, DP Tanks provides options for existing surface covers and manhole chambers. These can either be replaced or permanently restored to ground level, ensuring that the site is secure and safe after the tanks have been solid-filled. DP Tanks considers all aspects of the tank and site to provide a comprehensive solution for making redundant tanks safe and compliant with safety regulations.
